akidislab@gmail.comHow does Waves work?
Waves connects directly to nearby phones via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct. No internet needed. Messages hop from device to device through a mesh network.
Do I need internet?
No. Core messaging works completely offline. Internet is optional for location groups, Dead Drops, and Nostr bridge (for sending messages to distant friends).
Is it secure?
All direct messages are end-to-end encrypted using Curve25519 + ChaChaPoly. Only the sender and recipient can read messages. Even relay nodes in the mesh cannot decrypt them.
What's the range?
Bluetooth: ~10-30 meters. Wi-Fi Direct: ~50-100 meters. With multiple users in a mesh, messages can hop further through intermediate devices.
How do I add friends?
Three ways: tap +ADD in the Radar tab when they're nearby, scan their QR code in the Contacts tab, or tap their avatar in General chat.
What is Offline Only mode?
A privacy setting that disables ALL internet features. No analytics, no cloud services, no Nostr. Pure Bluetooth mesh only. Zero data leaves your device.
What is Mesh Radio?
Create a live audio room where you broadcast your voice to everyone nearby. Listeners can join your room. Like a walkie-talkie for groups.
What are Dead Drops?
Encrypted messages tied to GPS locations. Leave a message at a cafe — anyone with Waves who walks within 100 meters can read it. Messages expire after 24 hours.
How do I delete all my data?
Settings → Storage → Emergency Wipe. This instantly deletes all messages, contacts, encryption keys, groups, and settings.
